Usage

All data comes from OpenStreetMap and is licensed under the Open Data Commons Open Database License (ODbL) by the OpenStreetMap Foundation (OSMF).

Layer Information

This service consists of a subset of features from OpenStreetMap.

This layer was prepared using osm2pgsql and Osmium.

Information has been clipped to the Kendall region. Features and attributes extracted for this service are as follows:

Buildings

This is mostly features with a building key, but also includes building:part features as well. In OpenStreetMap, building part features are used to separately map parts of a single building whose attributes differ. For example, a split-level house is a single building, but can be mapped as two parts with different height information.

Fields

Field Description
Name The name of the building, if any1
Ref The official ID of a building, if any
Operator The entity which owns or operates the building
Class Whether a feature is a building or building:part
Subtype The value of the building / building:part tag, whether it is a house, silo, church, etc.2
Historic Whether or not the feature has historic significance
Levels How many levels the building or part has
Start Date When the building was first constructed

  2. The type of building is based on its architecture, not present use. A church building, for example, often has distinctive features, but may not be operated as a religious gathering place.↩︎
